MARKER antartica project
This project is a cartographic and photographic study of the wild and undetermined landscapes of Antarctica. A small wooden stake similar to the type used for surveying property lines, demarcated with black & white patterns that might indicate measurement is used as a point of scale photographed in the foreground of Antarctic landscapes. Currently a continent to which no one country claims ownership and because most interest in it is scientific, Antartica is not divided by economic rivalries. It is truly No-Man’s land, a premonition of the fragility of our future environment.
Paradoxically marking out an un-markable landscape, this project simultaneously posts the alien character of Antarctica and its important connection to the rest of our planet. This project was realized with support of The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operations.
